Formed in 2002 by Mark Herbert and Perry Smith   with Alan Monteath on bass the first year
Dave Hervey joined on bass in 2003 
with the addition of percussion and drums from Ron Wilson  for a while 
followed by Cheick Sissoko for a  short stint and then landing on 
 Eduardo Somech as the  staple drummer in 2006 

 other members,  contributors  and collaborators over the years   have included   ,Diana Zaccaria , Jerry Herbert , Harry Paterson, Nick Simon , ,Mark Lanter  ,Rick Tobey  ,  Troy pierce   Ben morrow  and more 
The community  quickly  dubbed their  music  folk and roll and funky folk rock  CGL took over the Wilmington NC nightlife scene playing most everywhere for over 15 years  often times 5 nights a week  and touring to surrounding  coastal towns   2 short run studio albums  and several live recordings 
CGL   paused most full band  bookings in  2019 only adding select small venue shows a few times a year while exploring  other creative endeavors .  The band spawned many other projects . some of which include  Broccoli Brothers Circus , Axiom , Neighbro , Earth Cruisers, Cross Creek Band , and Neighbro 
Future collaborations are in  the works   between original members
and we reunite for special causes and celebrations a few times a year !

Although we have been known for original music I though I would recently unearthed lizard cover cluster from the archives 
featuring the legendary Funky Leroy Harper junior he used to play with James brown and I remember seeing his band Soul Power Posse at the Starlight !
